Ford T8 Diesel Ambulance Euro 6 ICU Medical Vehicle

A:  The Ford T8 (JMC Ford Transit T8) features a reinforced monocoque body with stronger underframe, allowing a GVW of over 4.5 tonnes – higher than many European light vans of similar size. Rear air suspension (on selected trims) helps maintain a level ride under heavy loads. The patient compartment offers approx. 1.8m internal width and 1.9m headroom, enough to install ventilator towers and monitor mounts upright without narrowing the working aisle.

A:  Euro 6 (equivalent to China 6b) is the current strictest emission standard. This vehicle has obtained China 6b certification and can legally operate in most cities, including low-emission zones in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen – it is not affected by restrictions on older diesel vehicles (China 3/4). However, some cities still impose time-based restrictions on diesel vehicles (e.g., certain surface roads within Shanghai's Inner Ring Road). Local traffic authorities should be consulted before purchase.

A:  The Ford T8 comes standard with a 180A high-output alternator. During conversion, a second 120A alternator is added (dual-alternator setup) dedicated to powering the patient compartment. A 3kW pure sine wave inverter and three 100Ah LiFePO- batteries (total capacity approx. 3.6kWh) are also installed. Compared to standard ambulances, the ICU version adds a medical-grade isolation transformer to prevent mains interference with monitor signals, and provides multiple output voltages (220V for medical devices, 12V for infusion pumps, and USB charging ports).

A:  Three main measures:
1.The bulkhead between cab and patient compartment uses double steel panels with soundproofing foam and reinforced seals to block engine noise.
2.The factory rear air suspension can be set to a softer mode, while rubber vibration dampers (6 points) are placed between the stretcher platform and chassis, reducing high-frequency vibrations by approximately 25-30%.
3.Interior walls are lined with acoustic fleece rather than hard plastic panels to reduce echoes from equipment.
Measured interior noise levels: approx. 58-62 dB at idle, and 68-72 dB at 60km/h.

A: Our conversion comes with a separate 1 year or 50,000 km warranty. Importantly, our conversion does not cut the chassis frame, modify the engine ECU, or alter the braking system – therefore the original chassis warranty remains intact. We provide complete wiring and plumbing diagrams for the converted section, which local service stations can use for reference.
